Income Assistance Social Assistance ProgramThe Social Assistance Program is a program of last resort for families and individuals who, for various reasons, including disability, illness, low income or unemployment, cannot meet basic living costs. Any person in financial need may apply for social assistance. During an intake interview, the worker and the applicant establish the client's needs and resources and develop a case plan. The Saskatchewan Assistance Program has an adult allowance which includes food, clothing, travel, personal and household items. As well, there is a shelter allowance which varies depending on the community you live in, whether you are sharing accommodations and the size of your family.
